El Roble Birding

We offer unforgettable rural experiences for all kinds of groups and ages in one of the most biodiverse regions in Colombia: the Magdalena valley. Take a quick look here, but feel free to contact us any time. Our team will be delighted to answer all your questions. We speak English, Swedish, Italian and a little Portuguese.

It takes around four hours by car to reach us from the country's main cities Medellín and Bogotá. We can help you find the best transport option to suit your needs and budget.

The final part of the trip is made on a canoe, which we also provide.

Trips to the Cocorná sur river

Our property is located by the beautiful Cocorná sur river. We offer trips to enjoy the beautiful riparian nature and have fun taking a bath, floating in tubes or building your own bamboo raft. We offer transportation, food and guidance.

Horse riding

One of the best ways to get to know the region is on a horse. We rent horses and provide everything you need to have the best memories in rural Colombia.

Our own, private paradise

La Patiño is a small mountain creek with beautiful bathing spots surrounded by nature. We can cook traditional Colombian food while you take a bath or a nap, or can bring food packed Colombian-style to enjoy there.

Fauna and flora

We love birds, but there are many more interesting creatures to see in El Roble Birding: monkeys, otters, turtles, caimans and insects. We provide everything you need for a wonderful exploring adventure!

The great turtle experience

The river was once full of Magdalena river turtle (Podocnemis lewyana). Hunting, cattle farming and climate change have taken their toll and decimated this species, endemic to Colombia.

Thankfully, Chava, a local hero, has been fighting to fill the river again with this beautiful turtle. We take care of everything you need to have the experience of liberating juveniles hatched in Chava's own turtle kindergarten!

Our beautiful guest house

The house was built in the 1960s by our grandfather Ricardo. It is confortable and fresh. We have four bedrooms for up to five people each, with private bathrooms and electric fans.

The shared areas are generous and offer beautiful views.
